Every horse deserves a chance . . .

At CIVSM, we recognize that exceptional equine sports development begins and ends with a deep admiration and respect for the animals we support. It also hinges on creativity and the appreciation that each client is an individual with different circumstances and needs.

One approach - one modality - will not fit all. The solution lies in an integrated approach. One way we are able to support the diverse needs of our clients is through our close alliance with Annie Logan, DVM - President of Animal Natural Healing Arts, PC. Dr. Logan holds in-clinic hours at CIVSM and collaborates with Tracey on diagnostics and the development of treatment protocols.

"Our goal is to determine the course of action for each horse then teach the owner how to implement the program. Sometimes the horse only needs to be with us a few weeks before it can return home. Other times clients choose to remain for a longer period to learn more about our training program, improve their riding and develop a more successful relationship with their equine partner. "

- Tracey Scott, President

  • Classical Dressage Training

For thousands of years, training horses was about maximizing beauty and power while doing no harm. There were no "horse sports" just horses. The sport a horse is asked to perform does not change the horse's biomechanics. There is just one way for a horse to use his body for maximum performance with reduced concussion and stress on his tissues.

This is Classical Training and our Biomechanics Guided Training approach submerses classical dressage training principles in the natural biomechanical design of both the horse and rider. We focus not on "pushing the horse into the bridle" or "putting the horse into a frame." Instead, we teach strength, balance and beauty through long, relaxed muscles and a strong core. In this way, as the horse progresses in its training, the movements become easier - not harder - and the horse and rider become more supple, relaxed and comfortable.

  • Health & Performance Assessments

CIVSM is committed to working with veterinarians, owners and trainers to maximize the health and performance of their horses. Often times, veterinarians and trainers refer horses to CIVSM when they are unable to determine a specific cause of illness or lameness or are having persistent performance or behavioral issues that are impacting performance. Our assessments include a thorough evaluation of a horse's:

    • General health, soundness and neurologic status
    • Assessment of Training program
    • Nutrition and Preventative Maintenance program
    • Foot and tooth care

Based on our findings, we work with clients and referring agents to define a program that addresses the comprehensive needs of the horse. Our goal in constructing each program is to maximize the horse's ability to return to successful training and competition while minimizing the chances of future injury or illness.

  • Horses for Sale

From time to time, we come across an outstanding individual who needs a different home or career. Each horse we work with chooses his discipline based on what he enjoys most. We then ensure the horse has the correct physical development to safely and comfortably perform. Once we are confident a horse is completely ready in body, mind and spirit, we work to match them with the right owner.

We are currently working with a few exceptional horses who will make excellent upper-level dressage partners.  If you are in the market for a true partner who loves his job, contact us. We might be able to help.
